Center For Military Medicine Research Aims To Meet Health Needs Of Wounded Warriors
Every day is Veteran’s Day at the Center for the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences Military Medicine Research, according to its executive director Col. (ret.) Ron Poropatich. At Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum, Pitt scientists, UPMC physicians and military medical leadership talked about the health care needs of wounded warriors and the research projects that are striving to meet those challenges, and honored the service of veterans, including those who currently reside at UPMC Senior Communities. To further heighten awareness about the health needs of the nation’s veterans, service members and families, and elevate the role that medical schools and teaching hospitals play in serving this community, the Association of American Medical Colleges has established Joining Forces Wellness Week. The effort, which starts today and continues to Nov. 16, features a free webinar series as well as a number of activities focused on military health issues.
